Sheffield United vs Chelsea (0-2)

Chelsea booked their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup with a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

An own goal by Oliver Norwood in the first half was only added to in second-half stoppage time, when Hakim Ziyechgot his name on the scoresheet.

The Blues‘ opening goal in the 24th minute was a little fortuitous, as Norwood attempted to block Ben Chilwell‘s shot from outside the box but inadvertently sent the ball past goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Christian Pulisic had a chance to double Chelsea‘s lead later in the second half after intercepting a pass and finding himself one on one with Ramsdale, but his attempted chip over the goalkeeper did not come off, which then caused him to seek support from his teammates.

Sheffield United were left scratching their heads 20 minutes into the second half, as David McGoldrick missed a golden opportunity to equalise. John Lundstram‘s cross from the right found McGoldrick, yet his header from the centre of the six-yard box somehow went to the right of Kepa Arrizabalaga‘s post.

Then, in the 90th minute, there was another chance for the Blades to take the game to extra time. Ben Osborn‘s low cross from the left-hand side was met by Kurt Zouma, who had stretched out a long leg, but Rhian Brewster came onto loose ball and fired a powerful shot just wide of the left post.

But it wasn’t to be for Sheffield United, as Chelsea scored their second of the game in stoppage time. Chilwell floated the ball into the area, which was controlled by Ziyech and then fired into the bottom right corner.

This victory caps off a great week for Thomas Tuchel‘s Chelsea, as they have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and the semi-finals of the FA Cup, while they are in fourth place in the Premier League.
