Tottenham winger Gareth Bale has confirmed that he wants to return back to Real Madrid when the season ends, MySportDab reports.
The Welshman has provided a new update on his future while with Wales away on international duty.
He outlined his plan to return back to Spain at the end of the season despite reports of staying at Tottenham.
Spurs sign Bale last summer on loan from Real Madrid but fans in Spain were happy to finally get rid of him.
However, Bale has now hinted that he does not intend to stay at Tottenham permanently and return back to La Liga.
When asked about his future, Bale said:
“I’m not distracted at all going into the Euros.
“My plan was to stay for a season at Spurs, and after this summer at the Euros, I still have a year left on my contract at Real Madrid and my plan is to return.
“This is probably the best match fitness i have had in years. I’m fresh and ready to play more.
“I think it’s nice to leave a club environment at some point when things aren’t going too well.
“Yes, it can help a lot. We are focus on the upcoming Wales games, which are very important. We must concentrate here and forget our clubs.”
Bale is determined to see out his Real Madrid contract which expire 2022 and he earns £600,000 per week.
At Real Madrid, fans have criticised Bale by fans for his love of playing golf instead of being with the first team.
But, Bale is not ready to end his long Real Madrid career, even if he is only on the bench next season under Zinedine Zidane.
Bale looked to have turned his career around in recent weeks with two goals each against Burnley and Crystal Palace.
How Manchester United's loanees are perfoming across urope
There are fewer academies systems in world football that are rated as highly and operate as well as that of Manchester United‘s.
While there can be a bit of overhyping of just about every youngster that shows promise at academy level for the Red Devils following a number of successful graduates, the way in which they churn out professional footballers at all levels of the game is seriously impressive – even if all of them don’t quite make it at Old Trafford.
There is currently a talented crop of young individuals on the cusp at United who have moved away on loan in search of valuable first team minutes. Mixed in with that are a few more familiar faces, also in search of more regular playing time.
90min has rounded up all 12 current loanees and summarised how they’re faring at their current clubs.
Current club: West Ham
Deal: Season-long loan
There are very few United fans who didn’t want to see Jesse Lingard recapture his form with a loan move, so to see him doing exactly that at West Ham is an absolute fantastic.
Since sealing a temporary switch on January deadline day, Lingard has been instrumental for the Hammers, racking up five goals and two assists in seven games.
His resurgence has even earned him a recall to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the first set of 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Lionel Lingard is back.
Current club: AC Milan
Deal: Season-long loan
For whatever reason, it hasn’t worked out for Diogo Dalot under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he was out on loan despite United now lacking options beyond Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back.
Dalot has made 24 appearances for Milan since joining on loan and featured against his parent club in the Europa League, but hasn’t established himself as a go-to player under Stefano Pioli. His versatility however has seen him become the ideal backup/rotation to both Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez, both of whom have been virtually flawless all season.
By no means a failure, but a frustrating spell which hasn’t boosted his stock.
Current club: Lazio
Deal: Season-long loan with option to buy
Heading to Italy with Dalot at the start of the season was Andreas Pereira, who instead headed for Rome to sign with Lazio.
The 25-year-old has only started in two of his 18 Serie A appearances so far and has chipped in with one goal and three assists in all competitions. Lazio are reported to have an option to buy Pereira for around £24.5m, and while there is still time, it seems unlikely that they will part with such a sum of cash for someone who hasn’t really made a huge impact.
Current club: Alaves
Deal: Season-long loan
One of four signings last summer for the Red Devils, Pellistri was initially kept around the club and ripped it up in the Under-23s before being sent on loan in January to gain some first team experience.
Joining La Liga side Alaves, the Uruguayan has made five appearances for the relegation-threatened side, but impressed in a 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid recently – even earning some praise from Luis Suarez in the process.
Current club: Club Brugge
Deal: Season-long loan
Dutch winger Tahith Chong was initially sent to Werder Bremen, but was sent back and re-distributed to Club Brugge, having failed to impress in Germany.
Being recalled from loan is always a worrying sign, but 21-year-old has turned it around in Belgium, however, racking up four assists and one goal in eight games. Found his groove.
Current club: Huddersfield
Deal: Season-long loan
Despite once looking somewhat promising and rated by previous managers, time has caught up to goalkeeper Joel Pereira and the ship has most definitely sailed for him in Manchester.
A season-long loan to Huddersfield should’ve repaired the damage done in a torrid spell at Hearts, but the 24-year-old still can’t get a game. And with his contract up at United in summer, it looks like he’ll quietly find a fresh start on a free transfer
Current club: Nottingham Forest
Deal: Season-long loan
Similarly to Chong, James Garner was recalled in January from Watford and instead sent out to Nottingham Forest, having been lost in the shuffle at the Hornets.
It’s prove to be a good move for the youngster, as the midfielder looks much more comfortable in the Midlands.
He put in a man of the match performance against Brentford and took the captain’s armband late on. Bags of talent, but now it’s time to deliver.
Current club: Istra 1961
Deal: Season-long loan
Levitt was recalled from League One side Charlton having failed to make an impact. And while it was expected that he might sit back in United’s Under-23s for the rest of the season, he rolled the dice and headed to Croatia in search of first team action.
He has since made one appearance for Istra and remains highly-rated among United fans, but he needs time to develop.
Current club: Derby County
Deal: Season-long loan
Teden Mengi took strides forward by securing a loan move to Wayne Rooney’s Derby County in January, and his eagerness for senior football is paying dividends.
United fans are raving about the 18-year-old defender and rightly so; he’s taken like a duck to water in the Championship and settled in immediately, earning high praise from Rooney for his performances. His presence might just be key in keeping them in the division.
He signed a new contract with United until 2024 in March. One for the future.
Current club: MK Dons
Deal: Season-long loan
While all the praise has gone to Mengi, Ethan Laird followed similar suit by joining League One side MK Dons and has quietly been solid.
Laird has made 16 league appearances and chipped in with three assists, persevering through injury struggles to impress. A productive spell.
Current club: Salford City
Deal: Season-long loan
Di’Shon Bernard has slipped under the radar following his 2019 Europa League debut, but has been plugging away in League Two with Salford City since October 2020.
The young defender has impressed, making 27 appearances in all competitions so far. A good end to the season looks likely, but the next step is impressing in a more challenging division.
Current club: SM Caen
Deal: Season-long loan
French midfielder Aliou Traore hasn’t quite made headlines among United fans just yet, but is on loan in Ligue 2 in his native France.
He’s racked up 19 league appearances, but has only started six times and is yet to provide any goal contributions.
Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood has been withdrawn from England U21 Camp after being confirmed injured, MySportDab reports.
The youngster has reportedly been dropped from the team and replaced by Norwich City star Todd Cantwell.
The England U21 team was due to be played in Slovenia for the group stages of the European Championship.
Greenwood was initially included in Aidy Boothroyd’s final 23-man list for the tournament.
The competition is due to kick off in Slovenia on Wednesday and begins with just the group stages before the knockout phase resumes in May and June.
The FA has, however, released an official statement confirming Greenwood has been forced to pull out through injury.
He has now been replaced with Norwich midfielder Todd Cantwell who has being called up as his replacement.
This is another blow for Manchester United as his injury might affect the team after the International break.
See What The FA Said:
“Todd Cantwell has been called into our England men’s under-21 squad for the UEFA U21 EURO Finals,” the statement on the FA’s official website reads.
“The Norwich City player joins up to replace the injured Mason Greenwood in Aidy Boothroyd’s group.
“Cantwell, who has three MU21 caps to his name from this qualifying campaign, has joined the 23-man squad travelling to Slovenia on Tuesday afternoon.”
Mason Greenwood won’t be taking part in all of England U21 group stages game with the during of his absent yet to be known.
Depending on how serious the youngster injury is, he could also sit out Man United’s first game back after the international break, with his side set to play host to Brighton on April 4.
