Eden Hazard’s transfer value tumbles to just £36m

EDEN HAZARD is worth less than 30 per cent of the eye-watering £130million fee Real Madrid agreed with Chelsea for him just two years ago.

The Belgian has had rotten luck with injuries since his mega-money switch from Stamford Bridge in 2019 and that has seen his transfer value plummet.

Hazard, 30, joined Real in June 2019 from Chelsea for an initial fee of £89million – potentially rising to £130m.

But various injuries mean he has played just 36 of Real’s 90 games since he arrived at the Bernabeu and is now worth just £36m, according to Transfermarkt.

His latest problem is a persistent issue with his left ankle which could mean he ‘may never play football again’, according to a top doctor.

Hazard is said to have been in pain – which has got worse recently – since a procedure on it last March.

The winger has also picked up several muscle injuries since he has been at Real and they are linked to the underlying ankle issue, according to Spanish outlet Marca.

Hazard’s running and movement style are said to have been affected by the problem which could have led to the increase in muscle injuries.

And as a result, the former Lille man is said to be resigned to ANOTHER surgery and sees it as his only option even though it will almost certainly see him miss Belgium’s Euros campaign this summer.

While the news will be a blow to his country, Real are likely more concerned with the affect his absence has had on his transfer value.

His latest injury came in training as he was forced out with a psoas muscle problem which affects the lifting of the upper leg.

Hazard was absent from the opening portion of Real‘s training session last Monday afternoon, sparking fears he’d suffered yet another setback.

The club confirmed his injury a few hours later, with reports claiming he could be sidelined for up to six weeks.

Hazard recently told Premier Sports: “When it comes to the end of my career I can look back at my achievements, but my priority now is playing well and enjoying my football.

‘I don’t think about where I will be in the next few years, I try to focus on the next match and the next training session.

“I’ve only just turned 30 so as long as my body feels good, hopefully I can keep playing for at least another five or six years.”

Liverpool fans have been debating the potential return of Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho

After it was reported that he could be transfer listed by Barcelona this summer.

Coutinho left the Reds under a cloud in January 2018 in a deal worth a total of €160m (£142m), made up of certain stipulations and clauses.

One of which could come into force in 10 games time, as the Catalan club are faced with a substantial €20m (£17m) payment when the 28-year-old plays his 100th game.

The cash-strapped La Liga giants want to avoid making this payment, according to Mundo Deportivo and could instead sell the 62-cap ace.

Having previously been linked with a return to Merseyside and with undoubted qualities that would be of a benefit to Jurgen Klopp‘s side, Kopites have been discussing the possibility once again.

Despite the positives that saw the acedubbed a ‘little magician’ by Reds, the underlying memories from his unamicable departure may live on.

Manchester United could reportedly have the edge over Chelsea in the transfer pursuit of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

The Red Devils look to be making Haaland a big priority for the summer as they even consider not spending too much on a centre-back so they can afford a £100million+ move for the in-form Norway international, according to 90min.

It could also be that United have an edge over Chelsea in the race for Haaland’s signature, according to a surprise claim made in a report from Bild.

The German outlet mentions the Blues alongside Man Utd as one of Haaland’s suitors, but claims that one thing that could hurt the west London giants is their manager Thomas Tuchel.

They state that Tuchel didn’t leave Dortmund on very good terms when he departed as their manager, so his presence at Chelsea might not be ideal.

It will be interesting to see how this develops but Chelsea could undoubtedly benefit a great deal from signing Haaland.

Erling Haaland

Where next for Erling Haaland?

CFC look in need of more goals in their side after a terrible run of form from summer signing Timo Werner, while Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham also don’t look like ideal long-term options.

United also need a replacement for veteran front-man Edinson Cavani, however, while the goals have also dried up for Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood in recent times.

Tuchel has done great work at Stamford Bridge so far, but it would be a blow for the club if he genuinely ended up costing them the signing of Haaland

JUVENTUS have reportedly named their price for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is said to be available for a fee of £21.5m as Juve consider cashing in.

Meanwhile, reports suggest Arsenal are confident that Martin Odegaard wants to join the club permanently and Real Madrid have interest in Tottenham’s Harry Kane
